And there was this guy named Bill, one of my best friends in the Graduate School. Even if you are not one of a kind artist, you can simply draw the entire figure of him. Wondering how? Simple; draw a bamboo stick and now add a large ship on top of it and you get the exact image of Bill. Thinking that this unique kind of body type was sober result of food intake over a long period of time? Just the opposite! It was his extraordinary habit of devouring everything he could put his hands on that actually made him famous in the campus. Any time of day you catch the boy and youÂ'll find him chewing on something. Well, this poor boy, Bill helped me an important lesson of life and learning that is: not swallow everything you feed your body, only the elements contained in your body through proper digestion of food for work your body. And a good digestion would have been impossible had no enzyme.
Not only the digestion, for every function of our system, we are grateful to different enzymes. In fact, the human biological system is often described as the sum of a number of enzymatic reactions that occur in the body every time! Enzymes important for the digestion of food because they act as catalysts in the chemical reactions necessary for the demolition of the food elements. In the absence of sufficient enzymes, these chemical reactions lose their momentum and the digestive organs are faced with several problems that manifest in gas, acidity, bloating, diarrhea, burning and the like.
However, modern studies have found a direct link between the aging process and decreasing function of enzymes in the system. Also the sources of various types of modern degenerative diseases can be traced to the declining level of activity of enzymes in the blood. These studies have determined if we aging, the amount of the enzymes and the level of their activities gradually decrease.
The role and importance of enzymes in the metabolism known to medical researchers for long. Lang returned to the medical scientists came to know about the proteins that can be found in many kinds of living beings. Either the cells or fluids surrounding the cells contain these proteins. Scientists term, Â'enzyme "for these proteins. Have you ever felt exhausted after gorging on some real rich food? The system is required because more supply of enzymes to digest them and a greater amount of energy was spent on the procedure and hence this feeling of tiredness. On the other hand, have a large amount of salad and even then you will not get the same feeling. It is because the fresh vegetables in them many digestive enzymes that process much easier.
Sun's body metabolic process is managed almost single-handedly by the enzymes and we get the energy to continue the journey of our lives.
Part II
So now you clearly about the importance of the enzyme in our lives. Let us next discuss the different classes of enzymes present in our body.
In fact, you have thousands different enzymes in a human body. Actually there are so many enzymes in the body and they play such a complex network of activities is often said that life itself depends on the activities of the variety of enzymes. There is no chemical reaction in the body, which a kind of enzymes does not participate.
For purposes of understanding, all the thousands of enzymes can be roughly divided into two main groups, namely the metabolic enzymes and digestive enzymes.
The metabolic enzymes can be found in every cell, tissue and organ in the body. They are as biochemical catalysts in nature and take part in the operation of all living cells. Their activities Never stop for a moment. These enzymes are responsible for supervising nearly all chemical reactions related to metabolism.
Hence metabolic enzymes are described as basis of life processes.
Then the digestive enzymes. This class of enzymes is subdivided into two groups of enzymes: intrinsic and extrinsic digestive enzymes.
Intrinsic digestive enzymes are produced naturally in the body and separated from various organs to break down food components. The food we eat contains the basic elements of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. The enzymes secreted by these organs as the salivary glands in the mouth, the gastric glands in the stomach, and specific cells in the pancreas work digesting these elements are present in the food. Such as the starch portion of the food is digested by the help of amylase enzyme. Protease breaks down proteins and lipase digests fat.
Most of us have a fetish for cooked and processed foods and often tend to avoid fresh fruits, vegetables and salads. But you should know these types of raw foods are very rich in active enzymes that help digest much of the protein, starch, fats present in these foods. So these foods are easy to digest. You've often told about the nutritional value of papaya. Well, it contains useful Papain enzyme that works to break off small and large proteins. Then there are several notes which contain lipase that breaks down fat content of dairy products, nuts, oils and meat.
Thus the enzymes are the inseparable healthy parts of human life as the two main biological functions digestion and metabolism are controlled by enzymes.
