Chromatic Harmonica?

Hi, thanks for reading my question. I play blues / country diatonic harmonica for 18 years now. Lately (on and off for the past 5 years or so) I've listened to William Clark and George "Harmonica" Smith. I'm completely fascinated by this style of play. Of the multituda of the things my ear from the 'decorations' used by Clarke and Smith on chromatic harmonica are particularly interesting! I went and bought four chromatic harmonica. And to be honest, I find them frustrating. A much different beast for sure compared to Diatonic. I am interested in knowing the "mechanics" of those ornaments. Anyone who plays harmonica will know what I mean. Those sounds that pepper the song, simply shout woah! between chops, Worblingen awsome effects, and something I can only describe as two notes of dissonance. I'm still to understand how to achieve them. All help is appreciated - Frustrated new chromatic harmonica player

Bill Clarke was my favorite. He and George were as close as father - son. I used to remember when Bill's brother played drums for him. George was the founder King of the chromatic and if you ask me. Get a copy of "Blues in the Dark" and listen to the licks. Short, sweet, simple - perfection! Rod Piazza was a protege 'of George. I was introduced to George by another blues legend Doug MacLeod. Got to open the performance with Doug and his band, playing 3 songs while George had seen and a few JD's. He then stood on stage and said: "That boy is dangerous" I was excited, best and most appreciated compliment I ever received. George Then play "Blues in the Dark". I had never heard such a thing in all my days. Dripping with emotion and then hissing and soul. I do not think any George's best work was never recorded on tape, you had to be there. My advice - STUDY AND PRACTICE OF THAT SONG You can use any note. You'll then discover the secrets. Much is changing your breathing, and the introduction of the time. You know what I mean. Take care - you have good music taste! ->
