How do I go about finding a BLUES band in my town who needs a harmonica player?
I am a beginner harmonica player, taking lessons, need to play in front of an audience and learn all it takes to play BLUES harp.
Byrde gave you a good answer. The key is networking with everyone in the blues community in your town-club owners/bookers, music store personnel, players, etc. I would strongly encourage you to not limit yourself to only playing with blues players. Some of my best memories, as well as some of my biggest leaps in ability came from playing outside my comfort zone. I've played with everyone from rock-a-billy bands to country, folk, rock & roll, bluegrass, cajun, etc. Not only will it force you to become a better player, but you will also get known more quickly in your area. Musicians are musicians and many know each other even if they play completely different styles.
