Even non-musicians around the world are undoubtedly familiar with one of the more famous compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring. Usually this number is played in a slow, almost deferential style during weddings or religious and liturgical services. There are not many music lovers know that this really recognizable melody intended to play in a much joyfully.
The song was originally composed to accompany the voices, and the traditional orchestral instruments, especially woodwinds, strings, and brass. Today it is often performed on piano and organ. It is difficult to say whether Bach could be rolling over in his grave every time the slower version of Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring graces wedding ceremony of someone. Yet this piece won the affection of both fans and non-musicians. In fact, all compositions by Bach, This is his most recognized.
The German-born composer wrote his original composition in the early 1700s.
