What is a good starter harmonica?
Hi, I want to learn the harmonica, and I have some questions: What is the difference between chromatic and diatonic harmonica (the sound, all the pros and cons for each)? Which is better for a beginner? I think it sounds bluesy, harmonica both do make that noise, or only one of them? Do you have any recommendations for a good harmonica (brand and price)? I am particularly interested in the Hohner 3-piece set C, G, D (I think the diatonic), because it is cheap, but I'm not sure if it is good quality. If you have any advice, I know, I really appreciate. Thanks in advance!
If you're serious, the special 20 Lee Oskar and are among the most common serious players, at about $ 20 each. If you fool around and just start, you decent sound from a Blues Band, at about $ 5. BB is good for a test drive, but not seriously play. Regardless, look for a plastic comb, screwed-on covers, and covers that are rigid and seal well. Generally you get what you pay, so do not expect pro-sound and feel of a cheap. Now, the blues sound. Most of it comes from the player (and amp). It takes time and practice to develop, and your own, even if you start copying someone else. This makes the harp a personal tool. That and the fact that you always kiss the thing.
