Wanting to play harmonica ... what to buy?
I myself want to learn harmonica. I am a teenager with 9 + years experience I play the piano and percussion, guitar, violin and clarinet. I understand how to read music and I study music and music theory. I was wondering what I should buy harmonica. I was planning on buying an diatonic harmonica in the key of C major. At wwbw.com or musiciansfriend.com, what harmonica should I get? I advanced, I have to buy a chromatic harmonica? What should I buy chromatic harmonica (again, either from wwbw.com or musiciansfriend.com). There are also great websites, videos or books you recommend for learning harmonica? Thanks!
I would start with a plain ole Marine Band, the reeds are more durable than the special 20 blues harp and is mainly made for the men who sport a mustache. Once you've learned the diatonic, the chromatic then. There are several books available, and I would suggest, go to your local music store, this way you can book and see what you prefer. It is also better to do business in your local community, as opposed to web-based attractions.
