What key Diatonic Major and Minor Pentatonic should I use to improvise on a G-Em-G-Em-GDG Progression?
I am a new guitarist and this weekend I to jam with a few friends who like to play a song called Foggy Mountain Breakdown and they took turns doing solos to improve, and Last Time I did was I down strum GGGG-GM-Em-Em-Em-Em-GGDDGG over and over. I would like to try a solo improvisation pena tonic in a box or a diatonic major scale box, but now I don'tk what key to play in that would be good to stay in the whole "fresh". The other 2 boys I am jaming with banjo and mandolin playing, so I just can not see what they do ... (I learned to play on the fret buttons on the guitar, but not the banjo or mandolin!)
Since the progression is the key of G Major, you better of two choices would be Major Diatonic.
