Long term effects of rat on a dog?
My 8 months old German shepherd was very ill last week, was listless and was bleeding from the mouth. I took her along to the emergency vet and a clotting test determined she had somehow injested rat poison. She received a vitamin K injection and is on pills for 3 weeks. She is very good Now, having almost died. A little nappy now, but I'm sure she is still recovering. What long-term effects will this have on her? Will shorten its lifespan? May have damaged one of its organs? I've noticed that sometimes they are wrong, she had her hip somehow weakened? I suppose it was rat poison warfarin, because it affected her coagulation. We do not have in our house I do not know how they manage. Her hips were large, perhaps it's only bruising.
It may have damaged their organs, yes, there rat poison causes bleeding. Depending on the extent of the damage her life would be shortened. GSDs are subject to hip dysplasia, but I'm not sure it poison would have manifested early. The limp was a completely independent injury, or your dog can be hip dysplasia manifest asked if she was an ugly bruise on her leg as due to internal bleeding from the poison have. You might want your vet again and ask about that since there could be many reasons for a limp.

In his customarily pointed way, Aho, who has written previous books on the survivalist sects of the Northwest, here explore... |
