Who invented the harmonica? What country is it from?
Few people realize that playing the harmonica is inspired by the Chinese sheng mouth organ, which was introduced in Germany in the 1770s. Like the sheng, the harmonica produces sound by means of a free vibrating reed in a small tube into blown by the player, the harmonica drastically shortened the tube and the entire unit enclosed in a small metal enclosure of maximum convenience and portability. As a result, the harmonica was a favorite of amateur musicians from the German firm Hohner harmonicas began mass producing in the late nineteenth century. Even then, Americans have shown a special enthusiasm for the instrument. The harmonica's popularity in the twentieth century managed by its importance in the blues tradition, which she was known as the "blues harp."
