how do you workout what key a song in your game again a guitar or harmonica?
I am a self-taught drummer, guitarist, and I want to move the harmonica I do not know music scales and things like that I just listen and play so can someone explain to me how to workout what key a song and you can find all sorts of music styles to play the harmonica? if you play in the key of E or C, G, D and you get the idea
You figure out which key it is based on the notes played. Each elementary Key (Major or minor) has 7 notes. Based on what notes you play will determine the key. Every major key has a relatively small, that will contain exactly the same notes, but the sound a bit darker because the various steps. You can play all styles of music, the Harmonica. I found the easiest to learn, is to just try and play the melody with the harmonica, then change it as you get the hang. To find out what notes in a key, use the Major Formula: whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step, Whole step, half step. A whole step equals two frets on the guitar. Half a step would only fret. You can use the formula for the chromatic scale (a scale that contains all 12 notes in music): A, A #, B, C, C #, D, D #, E, F, F #, G, G # move one place more than a half step, thus A to A # is a half step. There is no flat / sharp between B and C and E and F, so going from B to C is only a half step. Once you know how to use the formula that you are golden. Here is a start for you: C Major - C, D, E, F, G, A, BG Major - G, A, B, C, D, E, F # D Major - D, E, F #, G, A, B, C # A Major - A, B, C, #, D, E, F #, G # E Major - E, F #, G #, A, B, C #, D # F Major - F, G, A, Bb, C, D, E, Bb Major - Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G, A It Keys are common to play the guitar. Also remember me the Relative Minor. The sixth tone of a major scale is the relative minor. Look at the key of C major. The sixth tone is A. So the A Minor is the relative key of C-Major. A Minor - A, B, C, D, E, F, G Minor The formula is big step, half step, whole step, whole step, half step, whole step, whole step. So the A Minor contains the same notes as C major, but it uses different steps to get there (it's a different formula). So the sound is a bit different when you play in A minor.
