The Evangenitals: This eclectic and (almost) all-gal group will catch your eye with their unusual names and hook you with their unique mix of light music critics called alt-country. Those born LA band started playing playwright and former fighter in July and Crockett Opera / Jazz chanteuse Lisa Dee. They created the name by combining two ideas. They took the word 'evangelical', which is "characterized by ardent or crusading enthusiasm" and "genitals", which is a term for " bodies of creation "or" private parts ".
The combo's lineup at the time of the recording was: July Crockett-lead vocals, guitar, vocals Lisa Dee, tambourine and glockenspiel, Henry Bermudez-lead guitar, David Hurlin drums, cajon, maracas, Andrea Baker-violin/fiddle, Ari DeSano accordion, Fender bass, and Keith Lubow, banjo, and harmonica. The core consists of drummer Kristy McInnis on drums and Laurie Ash on bass. (Individuals interested in the origins of this group are encouraged to a previously posted article read elsewhere online.)
The current Evangenitals and second album "Ever Lovin '." It has such a nice free-folk songs as the literary reference "I forgot," the hole "and oft'times lullaby-like fan-favorite" F * ck 'Em All. "(This last part has a blunt bit of not too difficult love begins almost sound cute.) Since the release of this Regal Records, these talented troubadours toured Scotland, appeared on radio and television, but across America, revealed a 4-song live, the mini-EP Evangenitals "Live at KPIG" and expanded their local fans and brought a new EP.
The Evangenitals "Evangenitals" is a surprisingly superior self-titled eloquent testimony to their desire to get everyone pulling in their entertainment entourage. The EP features tight tracks, including a rewrite / re-mix of "Hello", some of the above album.
Nevertheless, the inclusion of the image song "Hello" is perfect as the opening of this new EP. It gives the project a note of welcome familiarity before they venture off into uncharted original assembly area.
The next song is "Hard Luck Song". This is purely an alt-country. Crockett set put on a recent radio appearance, "that I written after my car broke down that explains the first line. Beyond that it just ... life. "
The third cut is "Work Song". This is a depressing-redundant (And intended to be) for most of the nearly four minutes walk. On the other hand, at a time when our economy is in the proverbial toilet, the mundane, boring existence the character in this song is probably happy to be inside at least one job ... especially since the protagonist's life also contains interesting philosophical dreams. Perhaps public dissatisfaction this is meant to reflect back on the listener.
The next cut is a down-home title song "Home". The song sounds deceptively simple and down-to-earth. It reminds me mental images of the entire band dressed in jeans and overalls sit on the front porch one in the country as a strange scene from "Hee Haw". (July's pickin 'and grinnin Lisa's. ") They can also remind younger version of the hillbilly family from" The Andy Griffith Show " playing their hearts on the back of an old pickup truck. No deep Scientific posts here as a Dow-home common sense appreciation of having a "home".
The country is still cute as the musicians move "So Sweet". If Crockett does not have someone special in her life now she is back to as They have written this song. It is pure, unadulterated love for that country tune and can easily conjure up images of the singer doing a silly dance barefoot through a field of wildflowers how her "bo" makes her feel. If some studios do not get this tune to be used on the soundtrack of their next chick flick country-fried, they are a big opportunity missed.
Finally, the group almost too sweet love song to the most optimistic sound of the entire EP. This is called "Bad Town" and was co- written by writer / poet Gordon Torncello. This seems to be the kind you would hear playing in a bar somewhere. It is a humorous song that could best serve them in places where they think they are people so d @ mn tough.
The closing cut "I'm sorry." Teaching is the sense that comes complete with lessons foreign languages and desirable the conclusion between the EP and the signals to the public that they should be sad because the album has come to an end.
Again, this band is already a cult favorite that can easily grow to a larger audience. Their material is often just the thing to clean an aural palette, if you will, some of the All too often overly commercial stuff on the market today. Look for them at your local club and watch out for their upcoming live disc, Evangenitals "Live at KXLU. The Evangenitals remains refreshing and entertaining.
My name is Phoenix and ... that's the bottom line.
