In his Ash Grove recording, guitarist Dave Alvin regrets the loss of a favorite club Los Angeles, a place to be on the National Register of Historic Places. It would in an urn, but the club burned not once but three times.

John, Albert King, Charles Mingus, Pharaoh Sanders, Spirit, Muddy Waters, Lightnin 'Hopkins, Mississippi John Hurt, "Big Mama" Thornton, the rooms Brothers, Flying Burrito Brothers, Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal. Many other activities also appeared at the Ash Grove over the years.
Everyone hung out at the Ash Grove. It was there that Jim (Roger) McGuinn David Crosby met before the formation of the Byrds and Linda Ronstadt a chance meeting led to the formation of the Stone Ponys.
"I always had two or three cheap recorders go ...," [Pearl] explains. "I would turn them on because I wanted to listen ... Ry, Taj, and the rest of us like listen to the old boys. "Some 3000 hours of live performances at the Ash Grove survivors. Many of these images can be streamed live or purchased from Wolfgang's Vault.
Currently in production, Ash Grove Burning is a Sundance award winning documentary filmmaker Aiyana Elliott. Hers is perhaps not a recognized name in music circles one learns she is the daughter of Grammy Award winner, Ramblin 'Jack Elliott, a regular performer Ash Grove.
