Six hours, and it is a beautiful fall morning and a pretty nasty hangover. While the homecoming party last night was memorable, I have no time to remember. These figures a pretty busy day. I take an aspirin, drink an orange juice, and take my trusty old Yamaha acoustic guitar from my closet. I bought it online from Amazon two months ago, and because I used coupon codes came with an aluminum pick and was shipped free.
Half nine: I'm practicing the tabs of this Rufus Wainwright song -- well as some original compositions - now more than two hours. My band mates have not mentioned, we should all come after lunch to rehearse for the evening performance in a local bistro called The House of Blues. They are probably all still asleep, except Andrew, who finished the most harmonica players I've ever known.
Ten-twenty: After my Communication Theory class, I pull my cell phone to read the text message I've waited. "Let's meet at the home of Tony's 1 hours. See you later. "Tony is our singer, he has a really powerful voice rock star, but I do not think he realizes how good he is. Oh - he also has a home network and a makeshift recording studio in his basement with lots of great audio equipment and hi-tech effects pedals.
Twelve hours: I just had lunch (a four-inch BLT sandwich), and before I drive all the way to the house of Tony's, I first check in at the library to look something up on the internet. Andrew had e-mail me something he saw on the website of Guitar Center, it was a combo amp could sound with my guitar. I think that if I use coupon codes I can slash down the price of $ 150 to $ 100 - a good deal, given that one of the most popular brands for musicians and audiophiles, Crate. Anyway, I online chat briefly with my friend Jenny, who I hope to show tonight watching us.
Thirty-one: we feel. Tony is in his element, Andrew is showing off some new musical styles, Richard on keyboards striking is complex but breathtakingly beautiful chords, and I am twan picking and went away as Johnny Lang, who has drunk too much caffeine. I love making music, which makes it even more worthwhile with a group of friends who are so dedicated the craft - and not worry too much about talent costs.
Five in the afternoon, and we are all led by The House of Blues. I love the place, not only because they serve delicious barbecue, but also because they are addictive pinball machine right by the cocktail bar and the owner let artists like us play for free. But Jenny's not here, I'm afraid. Still in Starbucks, coffee with friends, "reads the SMS message. Well, that or they compulsively wash the internet again for Victoria's Secret coupon codes.
Nine-thirty: Our one-hour set was almost over. For the first time we introduce "teasing Hazel Eyes" - a song I wrote as a tribute to Jenny. Yes, she did show up, and clapped harder than the rest of them. If I of the stage with Tony, Richard, Andrew, and my beloved guitar, I immediately run to my girl and give her a kiss.
