John French of the band Captain Beefheart, provides a mystery for those types of musicians and their life. studying French is a musician specializing in drums, but has also done singing and playing harmonica in the last years of his French career. moved between the different bands, always a strong part of the band and yet never make a real lasting impression on someone only after he left. For this reason he is something of a ghost in the music world, his influence is felt everywhere, but nobody has direct connections and no one has tried to directly emulate his work, although he has shown in his time really remarkable things can be done with a drum kit.
French was born in 1949 in San Bernardino, California. He spent his teenage years haunting the local music scene with Doug Moon and watched the band The Omens. In 1964, he played professionally, first in the band and Merrill Exiles. Then in 1966, he joined Beefheart and the Magic Band. He heavily influenced the bands sound, and yet he was Never in the band credits or the photographs. It seemed to him not unduly burden-all when he was fired, he left and when he was invited to return, he came back, but the time he spent with the band were difficult for him, he often cited physical and mental abuse in his interviews and said later that the reason he stayed was because he believed in turning the other cheek and that he has little right to be angry at anyone, just as he was the only major exception sixteen. was leader of the band later required him to learn forty songs in two weeks he just could not do and ran like a result. generally well, the music seemed the most important thing for French, no recognition, money, or fame. In fact it was not until the 1990s that he was able to his own recordings and finally get the recognition he deserved for his work. He was also invited to lead a solo do for the British Music Collective in 1996.Â
Now, French is working on his own recordings. In 2008, City of Refuge came to the market, showcasing not only his unique style, but also his ability to make music together in a way that is popular with many people. He also led the reunion of Beefheart and the Magic Band in 2003 for a tour, which led to a few CDs and a DVD which reunion. After many years of work, French finally recognized his genius for music and such recognition is good deserved. not let him get his head already, in interviews, he comes across as a man with a sense of humor, humility, and that is very honest about his life and his work.
