Although known as one of the best shopping destinations in the Caribbean, St. Thomas is also home to an incredibly active arts and culture scene. For more than three decades, local music lovers, and tourists looking for internationally renowned artists and theater, have flocked to St. Thomas' Reichhold Center. This elegant performance of space, located just west of Charlotte Amalie along Brewers Bay, stages regular concerts in genres ranging from classical and jazz to reggae and hip hop. Having already taken the people like Ray Charles and the Moscow Ballet, the Reichhold Center is preparing for another season of diverse musical surprises left.

Built in the late 1970 with the generous support of Henry H. Reichhold - one American entrepreneur who spent the last years of his life supporting the arts in St. Thomas and its sister U.S. Virgin Islands - The Reichhold Center remains a remarkable architectural and acoustic performance. The Reichhold Center has a capacity for 1196 ticket holders in an intimate, two-tiered space - with including 356 upholstered seats in the lower levels that emulate the best places to find at top opera houses. Although the lower seating concert to provide an unparalleled experience, many Returning actually prefer the unique, open-air seats from the upper level. A capacity for 840 viewers, the top level at the Reichhold Center has elegant wooden benches separated by natural stones and planter boxes filled with native vegetation. Two weeks later, the Reichhold Center hosts Michael McDonald, a former member of the Doobie Brothers and top-selling solo artists. The month of November offers performances by the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra (November 14) - an adventurous orchestra known throughout the Caribbean region for her thrilling renditions of lesser known works - and Ballet Hispanico (November 21) - a travel company that combines traditional dance Latin-American dance and contemporary forms.

The 2010 season at the Reichhold Center opens with a performance by the Soweto Gospel Choir on January 15. The world famous as one of the best groups of traditional African singers, the 26-member choir will be an energetic and uplifting start to the 2010 concert season. A week later on January 22, the Reichhold Center to present the 1st Annual Blues Festival St. Thomas. Put on one of the most popular concert events on the island, the St. Thomas Island Blues Festival launches a new tradition with a line-up of the long celebrated blues musicians and award-winning up-and-comers. Eden Brent - a talented blues singer who has drawn comparisons Sarah Vaughn - and Trampled Under Foot -- one of the most exciting groups in the new generation's blues scene - opens the festival, while Curtis Salgado - one of the biggest all-time blues harmonica players and inspiration for "The Blues Brothers" - will serve as a headliner.

The month of February, a performance of jazz legend, Ramsey Lewis, accompanied by award winning singer, Patti Austin (February 6). Visitors to the Reichhold Center for this special performance can expect an evening of jazz standards and unique versions of timeless pop ballads. The 2010 season begins really warming up on March 13 with a performance by reggae legends, Steel Pulse. The month of March ends with a performance of "America's Got Talent" winners, Black Violin (March 27). Presented as part of the Family Series, the highly anticipated Black Violin concert will stand as both St. Thomas' and the Caribbean region's first taste the violin-viola duo's signature blend of classical music, hip hop and pop.

As the Reichhold Center hosts generally only two or three weekend performances per month, tourists hoping the best cultural events St. Thomas has to offer, you can consider the planning of their visits around such exciting events experience.
