Do all chromatic harmonicas have spring loaded slides?
I got a new chromatic harmonica for Christmas. Unlike others I had played, has not sprung slide to switch modes. I have to manually pull it out again. Is this unusual? It seems like it would be difficult to slide quickly pulling out while playing. Maybe it's just stiff from not playing much yet? It is a "Hering 5148 Chromatic's" harmonica. Is this a defect, or deliberately? I took the mouth plate and found the source was aligned. I shifted it and tightened things a little more. Works great now.
My Honer Chromatic has a spring that lasts from C to C #. I think you should have as good a spring and spring missing or broken. Can you return to the music store?
