Legalization of marijuana and the founding fathers .. your thoughts.?
many patriotic Americans talk about protecting what our founding fathers intended was ... .. With so much talk in the media about medical marijuana, marijuana legalization and the amount of unused capital marijuana could provide for the public to speak legalized, I wondered what our founding fathers would have thought and came across this ....... "Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica. "- Abraham Lincoln (from a letter written by Lincoln during his presidency at the head of the Hohner Harmonica Company in Germany) "Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth and protection of the country." - Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President "Make the best use of Indian hemp seed and sow it everywhere. "- George Washington, U.S. President" We are, by and by, like a world of hemp more for our own consumption. "- John Adams, President of the USA what r ur thoughts?
Marijuana is, and always will be a major part of the founding history. It was widely accepted for many years, Up until just recently (around the 30's and 40's). But you should also think around that time, the legalization of ALCOHOL came to be. Yes, alcohol is illegal, and marijuana was legal. But when the 60's and 70's came around, when "hippies" were everywhere, and boy, the government hates Hippies, mainly because they were very openly against the war, and social norms and conformity with society (and that's what started it). But the Hippies smoked weed and was stoned, and again, marijuana is now illegal. When some of the Hippies stumbled on "magic mushrooms", then moved to LSD, a drug that if you get caught with you now charged with trying surrender of the government. So the government has now decided that since these hippies smoke weed, then now they are tripping on acid, that marijuana is a gateway drug. Now I know that statement is completely false because I personally know two people who have smoked marijuana for at least 5 years, and never touched any other drug. I also know of many smokers who have smoked for years tried another "hard drug" (mostly mushrooms, or ecstasy) and have never done "hard drugs" again, and only smoke marijuana. Some of the funniest things I've ever seen was old school anti-marijuana ads, especially if a proud marijuana smoker (more information on this statement in a little bit). A I saw that I thought was hilarious was this boy, that peer pressure to take a hit from a joint, said boy I'm stoned, then went and took a hatchet to his mother. Now Firstly, I do not think I've ever heard of someone getting high, then dead, because believe me, you just have that kind of ambition, or just think the whole idea of the dead is hilarious. But I've heard of people drunk and killing people, now that's very common. I have never heard someone an overdose of too much weed, but alcohol poisoning, that's a completely different story, you do not know how many cases I have personally seen. Also I have 7 friends lost due to driving under the influence, direct (the cause of the accident) or indirectly (hit by a drunk driver). How many accidents have stoned to drive to get? None (except for when I tried to drive my car without on, lol, but the keys in the ignition, but that was an accident, plus I just finished a double at work, so I was exhausted.) Now, as I said, I am a proud marijuana smoke. And the reason I say this is the fact that I do not drink, like at all. And I'm also a waitress, so when people ask me my favorite drinks, I tell them I do not do not drink, smoke, and every time I say this, it seems that people are more open to the use of marijuana growing. And I say it with pride, because I am not the typical "Stoner". (Hell, I actually refuse to call myself a "stoner" because I do not just sit at home, stoned and do nothing.) I am a "Pothead" (Or as my friends call it "Potheadian). I go to work (two jobs, a breakfast restaurant and a bar) and I attend college full time (with a 4.0 GPA) plus I almost got my bachelor and I'm not 20 yet (started college when I was 16 going on 17). Marijuana does not inhibit you from doing things and are successful, and that is why I am a proud marijuana smoke. And there are many successful adults, even lawyers and doctors that smoking marijuana, but cannot come due to views of society and government laws.
