I remember I had a toy harmonica played as a child. I am sure that both my parents and I just consider it a "fun" noise maker. Well I thought it was fun. My parents - maybe not so much.
I remember that some time later when I was about 13 and had one of my first paid job I saw a Marine Band Hohner harmonica for sale at a local music store in the mall. By that time I was more interested in music and had stated harmonica sounds in some songs on the radio and some of the vinyl records or CDs that I had come to the store to look at in the first place. I thought it would be fun to try to see if I could learn harmonica playing and make some of these sounds so I bought my first harmonica.
A day at my high school after I had lunch with some friends and I took my harmonica. One of my friends asked if he would try. I gave him and he began to wail on one of the songs I had been interested in playing in the first place. Not only sound as good as the recording, but for me it was better because it was there for me live! That was for me. I was hooked. Every time I heard a song with a harmonica, I would try to find out. I found harmonica music everywhere. There was rock harmonica, or blues harmonica, country and folk music than with old Harmonica Bob Dylan songs. All had taken my friend was playing a simple melody. I think I thought: "If another 13 years old as I could so I could do - right?"
When I started playing better, I could show off a bit and see others enjoying. That made it funner for me. Even some of my best pleasure showed others how to play and see how enthusiastic to have to learn to play harmonica. I really enjoy to see the excitement of harmonica for beginners as much as I enjoyed watching my favorite Star play. The smile and look on the face of a novice harmonica player when they start to make some good music for himself reminds me of how fun and exciting it was for me when I started out. I love seeing them have a good time as they learn how to play famous songs and free style jam with me on their own or with other instruments.
As a harmonica is small it is easy to carry in your pocket. Harmonica can be added to many different styles of music. I thought it was a nice play hobby and skill that has given me many good times and great memories. After both sides of the fence, I can say from experience it is much more fun if you and the people around you can enjoy Music Maker for your pleasure.
