Within limits my own tweaking. I can mess around with saddles and truss rods happy confident that "I know what I do." The only points I would like to setup to participate in a professional would have something to do with the nut. I never wish to ungluing and the bonding side of things or to invest in nut slot files and other accouterments associated Small guitar surgery - partly through laziness and partly by the knowledge demonstrated by the efforts of the screen hanging around the house, hands-on skills that are not part of my work.

Now, if every player knows acoustic guitar, occasionally we get plagued by mysterious rattles, hums, creaks and squeaks that come from our beloved instruments. These reduce sensitive souls to tears when the bag and shake them around on their guitars in attempts to trace the source of the offending noise. Leaving well alone is not an option, because these sounds are always a kind that would seek the most powerful musician was crazy. So, more than once I have my arm deep inside a guitar have had, through the noise hole, in a manner reminiscent of a farmer delivering a newborn calf of a cow, trying to find out if a bracket could come loose or something. I even invested In an inspection light and mirror that would be tailored to an ear, nose and throat clinic to peer into the dark recesses inside. The odd ball fluff and dead and dried insects is my only reward.

Sometimes I will attack the tuners with pretensioners and screwdrivers in attempts to make sure nothing loose that is not the intention. Yanking strings to make sure bridge pins are not the cause of my misery is also required to make these times. These were inevitably futile gestures in determining the structural integrity and other aspects of health of my instrument. Voodoo and witchcraft would have been a better investment of my time.

My biggest fear has always been that the truss rod in the neck was deeply resonant in some evil way designed to teach me the trumpet. The remedy for this (so I've read) is to drill a hole in the button and spray some oil through it. I'm not there. I am not plans to buy an airplane and my key in an attempt to achieve what is called "dressing the frets. At least not without under sedation. That would be me - Not the guitar.

Anyway, let me go on a few links to websites which are read in the sound environment guitar setup and repair. If it is possible to hypochondriacal on behalf of your guitar, then these sites will induce.

These people are among the top in their field and I commend the information available on their sites to yours. I, for one, have learned much from them. Mostly about not too much messing with my guitars ...
