Anyone looking for "The Harper Brothers" jazz group of the late 80s and Winard Harper Philip Harper will be severely disappointed. This is the original Harper Brothers formed in the mid 80s by Torchy Harper aka Clive Day. Torchy Harper spent his first years living in a petrol station in Watford, England with only his dog Sam and his brother Colin for the company. Years later things have changed. Torchy now lives in France and Colin has become an auditor and the subject of the song, "In the City '. His dog Sam is a real child and the dog is now known Gary.

Torchy Harper is now one of the most messy bars in the French Alps and spend the entire winter drink, encouraged by the lively drinking games in "La Grotte" in the ski resort of Serre Chevalier, France. In the summer usually Torchy rebuild the bar ready for the next zero winter.

The Harper Brothers have been playing regularly in Serre Chevalier since 2001 and have been constantly harassed by a bearded man named Alfred Danish Hede Hansen of Ringe, Denmark, which appears to have been skiing every winter. Alfred always said "you must come and play in my village in Denmark, the people there love it!". The Harper Brothers get many offers like this and provide regular contact and say 'give us a call if you sorted some gigs. "Nobody has ever, except Alfred.

In 2004, The Harper Brothers made their first appearances in and around Ringe and Odense. The reception has been fantastic, the Danes love this twisted, politically incorrect rock and pop covers band and join the horrible drinking games in true Viking fashion. A ginger hair, pale skin girl Ringe was so impressed, she lived in France and then marry the guitarist in 2005.

The Harper Brothers have loved the enthusiasm and completely "over the top" hospitality of the Danish population. Everyone who think of Denmark as cold and boring country should think again. In summer the climate is great and the Danes are among the warmest people you'll ever meet.

The Harper Brothers:

  • Torchy Harper (vocals, guitar and harmonica)
  • Sukov Mike (guitar and vocals)
  • Ricky Mullett (bass and vocals)
  • Niv McSporren (drums, vocals and cross dressing)

It's a little hard to take Rod Stewart seriously when, on the first track of this third installment in his Great American Songbook series, he sings ruefully about his love life being "lean" ("Embraceable You"). But otherwise, Stardust...Volume III is as note-for-note solid as its predecessors--a cozy-up-to-the-fire treat that's also a pleasant reminder of these songs' staying power. "S'Wonderful" ...

Lee Oskar Melody Maker Harmonica A

Lee Oskar Melody Maker Harmonica A

$37.99

Melody Makers are the best harps available for playing single-note melodies. They're great for playing country, pop, R&B, jazz, folk, & standards. This tuning makes it easier to play many songs...that can be difficult, or impossible, to play on a standard major diatonic...in cross harp. All of the notes that are missing on the major diatonic are right there on the Melody Maker! It provides a complete major scale in cross harp for playing exact melody without bending. Yet, the draw notes can still be bent for that bluesy feeling! Melody Makers are designed to be played in cross harp (draw), not straight harp (blow). In cross harp, melodies can be played with an expressive, fluid style that is extremely difficult to achieve in straight harp. Built in Japan to his exacting standards and incorporating new techniques and materials, it was in 1983 that Lee Oskar introduced his new harmonica. The radically different harp design grew out of Lee's frustration with the lack of quality and consistency in the mouth harps of the day. The design also benefited from Oskar's insights as a seasoned recording and touring pro. The Dane's DesignCentral to Oskar's design is a smooth plastic comb that doesn't swell like traditional wood combs. Aside from being easier to keep clean, the plastic comb is impervious to the swelling of conventional harmonica wood combs that can tear up the player's lips. By making affordable replacement reed plates available, Oskar's harps can be easily refurbished. You no longer need to toss out a harmonica because a reed or two has gone south. Replacement reed plates are available for every model in the Lee Oskar harmonica lineup and installation is easy since they mount to the comb with just three self-tapping screws. The reed plates have wide chambers and narrow dividers for faster, easier playing. A precision-molded, recessed bed holds the reed plate securely to prevent air leakage and project a bigger sound. The corrosion-proof, stainless steel cover plates are also engineered for excellent projection and tone. (Replacement cover plates are also available.) Lee Oskar harmonicas are tuned to 441-plus hertz for a brighter sound. With equal tuning by octaves, Lee Oskar harps have excellent intonation for blowing highly articulate, single-note leads.More Keys and ModesLee's innovation didn't stop with a better-designed harp. Recognizing the need for harmonicas tuned in other than the major and natural minor diatonic scales, he introduced the Melody Maker and Harmonic Minor series that make it easier to play melodies difficult if not impossible to play with a standard diatonic harmonica. Another indication of Oskar's hard-won knowledge as a touring pro: Each harp is clearly marked in bright white on both ends with its first- and second-position (straight and cross-harp) keys. Each harmonica box is color-coded according to its series and also displays its key prominently. If you've ever struggled to find the right harp on a darkened stage,
