Tracers Nuclear Medicine-please help?
This information is correct (about tracers in nuclear medicine) - a radioactive substance injected into shoulder [or agency], or ingestion through the mouth - radioactive materials are generally gamma emitters - We use a gamma camera to detect the tracer - We use the trace of gamma rays as readily by the body without damage. Second, we use a substance with a relativity short half-life (several hours), long enough for measurements to take, but short enough not to cause damage. - Tracers are used to a picture of an organ or body system to create by detecting where the strongest readings out - together with the tracer, a radionuclide is injected, the tracer guide to a certain part of the body The main part of this thing is the last point (that is right?)
A few points of confusion here. There are many parts of the body other than the shoulder can be inspected, and the radioactive substance is usually administered intravenously injected. Gamma rays are actually more pervasive, and potentially more dangerous to the body than alpha or beta radiation, and the security of this research is based on the use of very low doses. It is true that the gamma camera is used to detect where the radiation is concentrated, but the tracer and radionuclide are the same. It can sometimes be adapted to the tracer as a label attached to red blood cells or protein, where the tracer was kept in circulation, or to a specific radionuclide, such as tritium, which spreads throughout the body water or iodine, which concentrates in the thyroid. There are not many examples of specific guiding processes.
