Betta fish will not eat food!?
I give him flakes and Betta food I 1-2 in his bowl and he eats it, but he spits it out into lots of small Crum. Does that mean he is completely right or unwilling to know. 'm Afraid he would die for not eating his food. What should I give him. He swims well and he is always actively swimming around flaunts his scales and he's sometimes puff out his organs button of his mouth idk what that is. Please reply back! Gallon: 2.5 Clean Water
Flakes are not always the best option for a Betta, the Betta pellets which are labeled as food, this will be good. To tell if he is not eating look on his belly (stomach) region, as he will not eat and when he sunk in the food will be good. As for what he is flaring from his throat, his gill covers and are used for breeding and fighting. If he flaring in the glass it means he can see his reflection, this is normal for Bettas because they are aggressive to other men and women during breeding. One of the best food I've found in live white worms, which you can when you own a starter culture culture, they are available from the IBC or your local fish club. Frozen bloodworms, daphnia and artemia are all very good food for your Betta just make sure that if you feed him the food is still frozen, to do just take what you give him and put him in a small container (cup coffee or large container). A word of advice on this make sure you either buy a special cup or washing very well, it has a tendency to a bad aftertaste (Done this bad reaction). If you're lucky he is blowing bubbles very quickly and when he does this time to a bunch (6-10) for women to try your hand at breeding them to get. If you do not want thats fine breed they are just one option available would be you. If you really want him happy give him a 10 liter tank to live in.
