what is the best way to learn a musical instrument?
I would like to know how to play harmonica and guitar, but music theory throws me a loop, so Playing by ear is all Ive got to go, but it takes time and memorize plz I Want to Rock
See the Master Theory Series published by Kjos. These are self-study workbooks. Each page introduces a new concept on the top half, on the ground, the application. I've learned "formal" music for 18 years. Sometimes your ear is all you need. Do not beat yourself, decide what you want to do with your guitar and harmonica. Make a plan to follow. I suggest you start learning the piano next to your theory, the help you learn what makes sense. You can use the half / whole steps to see, see the scale of patterns, etc. .. Oh, and each instrument has its best method books. Mel Bay Publications seems to have some great stuff for learning an instrument in general, but an individual instrument nuances to learn, is a teacher, or someone else plays and see what publications they use for studying.
