Run Soul Man with a live band?
a friend and I would eventually perform the Sam & Dave / Blues Brothers song "Soul Man "and we should put together a live band. What we need is the most important instruments (including brass) for the song. We have piano, guitar, harmonica, and regardless of the type of copper have been in the song. any help is appreciated. also, if you have a link to the site with free / cheap sheet music for various instruments, thatd is amazing be.
I saw your question about "Gimme Some Loving," many of the same stuff applies, so check there first. If the suggestion is MIDI, you can search MusicRobot.com for "Soul Man" MIDIS, and you can search for Ultimate-Guitar.com bass and guitar tabs. The differences - I do not think there is no way around getting horns on this one - you're gonna need something. Sounds like the Sam and Dave version is mainly through saxophones with at least one trumpet in there, the Blues Brothers rocked generally a relatively complete horn section. There are some horn tabs you can find on http://www.horntabs.net/tab/do_search?song=&band=140&type=-1, That should help. And remember, if you are switching things around for instruments - some of the tools inherent in a different key, so you'll have to do some conversion. AC on a trumpet, for example, is a BB to a guitar or a piano and a C on an alto sax (if I remember correctly) is an Eb on a guitar or a piano. Good luck!
