Trouble identifying a Harmonica?
Hi guys, I just inherited a harmonica called "The Echo Harp". It has 60 holes, and it is made by Hohner and for the life of me I can not find anywhere on the internet to find a model number or something for identification. I've found the brand of the harmonica is (http://www.musik-produktiv.de/img-007401031l/blasinstrumente-mundharmonikas-tremolo-mundharmonika-hohner-echo-harp-cg-120.jpg) but my one is bigger. Not only that but I want to learn how to play and I can no instruction material if I do not know what it is I play! If anyone has any idea what kind of harmonica that is, I would like to know. Thanks, Flo
I think the original Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas video in which all wanted for Christmas was an Alvin "Echo Harmonica. Hohner used a set of instructions to add harmonica together and there was even a book of documents that had very basic things. There should be numbers along the openings on the top oral side (blowing into it) of the organ. These numbers correspond to notes. If you suck and blow you a note if there are other manufactures metal reeds in the instrument as possible for. At one end of the instrument, the right to end or their metals (probably above), there must be a letter from A to G, inclusive. This makes the key the harmonica. All organs are transposed musical mouth, which means that if you can read music without sharps or flats, key of C, and you know where the corresponding notes on the organ than the harmonica is the key of G, you have transformed the piece from C to G, without any work to do. Problem with that if you try to play in a group and people in the band read music in the key of G you need to apply the key of C to play the harmonica in one of your collection. Sorry, I can not tell you where to find the corresponding notes on the harmonica, because it's been years since I played, but if you just "junk" around a bit, you should starting to get it sound like you can make music with her and then keep adjusting your tongue to the notes and make your breathing. Enjoy.
